Julie and Skylar’s Wedding

It was cold, no…it was ridiculously cold.  And windy.  And the wedding was outside.  But Julie was still smiling.  And happy as could be. We were at least 30 minutes behind schedule, and the day really had the potential of just being disastrous. But it wasn’t.  Because Julie and Skylar married, and lived happily ever after.  Like a fairy tale.  The problems that arise throughout the day didn’t matter as they were dancing together and celebrating their love that night.  In all my years of knowing Julie, I don’t know that I have ever seen her that happy and it was such a blessing to be a part of their day.  I always feel a bit guilty when I leave a wedding knowing that this couple, and now friends, have blessed me more on their day than I did them…

But before, I get any more Nicholas Sparks cheesy here, I should post some pictures…

I love when I’m invited to take pictures of the Bride getting ready…

Putting on the dress is always a fun adventure :)

These next few pictures are a prime example of why a First Look* is a great idea.

Skylar is standing with his back turned to Julie as she walks up behind him.  I mean really, look how cute she is….you think she would have made this face coming down the isle?  I din’t think so!

This is so cute!  He turned around and she yells, surprise!!!

You just don’t see this sweet reaction unless you see each other prior.  I’m telling you. Every person who has ever done this says it’s the best thing about their day…just saying…

And then on to couple’s pictures in the freezing wind!

My little country friends :)  I love it.

Onto the ceremony!

Yes, that is a shotgun he is carrying :)

Reception time…. Want to know something funny?  In my wedding contract, I have that I must eat a piece of cake.  Unprofessional?  Maybe.  Worth it?  Totally.

I don’t why the following picture holds such appeal to me, but it does.  I just love this type of image.  I want one o City Lights like this.

I’ll end with one of my favorites for the day that my sweet second shooter D’Anna captured…

Grace. Peace. Beauty.

Happy Monday :)

* A first look is when the couple opts to see each other before the wedding.  (Gasp)  Before you get all angry that I’m dogging on tradition hear me out :)  The tradition of couples not seeing one another before the wedding derives from arranged marriages and if they saw each other before the wedding they might think that they were unattractive and would run away.  Obviously, that isn’t the case now.  So how do I so the first look?  I set the groom up with his back to the door and then I walk to the bride in and count to three and have the groom turn around and I get a wonderful image of how he really feels to see his Bride.  As I shoot his reaction, D’Anna will get her reaction.  This is wonderful because people won’t usually react this way in front of so many people.  Aaaannndd, it allows for more time with just the two of you and your guests don’t have to wait so long for you at your reception.  I can’t say how much I love this, I really hope that you will give it some thought when you get married.  It is so worth it.
