I really am the worst blogger in the world. So sorry for that. But as I sit here waiting for useless homework to print and hurry to eat a bowl of Cap’n Crunch Nothing but Berries (so good by the way) I wanted to let you know that I have been thinking. A lot. And I”m tired of not growing and not being better in my business and just in life. So…I’m not going to promise an uplifting sermon of a blogpost soon, because let’s face it, my promises mean nothing to you anymore, but I will promise that the fire in my soul and under my butt won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. I hope I can slow down and find my head enough to share it with you. Blessings to you on this day!

Lesley and Thomas

To shoot a friends wedding is always a blast and an honor.  It’s probably one of my favorite things about having this job.  To shoot a wedding AND to be in the wedding party….that’s just crazy.  Crazy but so much fun.  These two are way too hot and even though my fingers were numb while we were outside shooting, I don’t know if I could have been happier.  I loved how every detail represented who Lesley and Thomas were as individuals and as a couple. The wedding took place at The Connelle Hotel in Eastland, TX.  I so enjoyed the history that brought this building so much character.  Mix a historic building with a crazy attractive couple and you have one fun time, my friends.

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE First Looks?  I haven’t?  Crap. Well…expect a blog post about them soon.

One of my favorites! (Below)

Another one of my favorites…so sweet.

Thomas and Lesley coming up on the blog!

Thomas and Lesley coming up on the blog!

And the worst blogger of the year award goes to…

…wait for it….yours truly.

Despite my many apologies and promises to get better, I really just suck at blogging.  I want so desperately to be good at this that when I sit down and start typing, I over think everything and get so tired of the monotonous typing and erasing routine that I just give up and decide it doesn’t matter.

Which brings me to the one thing I want to change within the coming year.

New Years Resolutions are infamous for failing so let’s just call this my New Year’s decision.  That way there is no question as to whether it’s going to be dropped within the next 30 days or not.

I am choosing to eliminate fear from my decision making in 2011.  I’ve known for as long as I can remember that fear controlled me, but I honestly thought it was a part of who I was and there was nothing I could do about it.  Today I have decided that what controls me is my choice.

Although I wish I would have done a lot of things different in 2010, I can’t believe how blessed I have been by my clients, family, and friends.

Saying that I want to be more fearless in my business, relationships and career is so much easier knowing that I have the people in my life that I do.  Espescially knowing that I get to do all of that with Ryan by my side.  As cheesy as it sounds, marrying him this summer helps ease my fears because with Ry by my side the world doesn’t seem so scary and giant leaps of faith don’t seem so far.

If one picture could sum up how I feel about the new year, it is this one.

It is my prayer that this new year bring you joy, love, peace, hope, and freedom.  But more than each of those things I wish you trials and tribulations that cause you to reevaluate your life and the way you live.  May each word you say and each thing you do reflect who you are and who you want to be.

Blessings to you and yours this season…

Shannon and Trent

It’s always fun shooting a wedding of two people that you may not have been very close friends with but when the day is done you know that you have just made two new friends.  In every detail, you can see who the couple is individually and as a couple and it is so fun to be a part of.  Shooting Shannon and Trent’s wedding was no different.  This was the first time that Ryan shot with me and he made the day so perfect!  On to the pictures!

Getting into a dress with a hoop isn’t easy, people!

After being announced husband and wife!  You think she’s excited?  :)

So blessed by you two!  I wish nothing but the best for your lives together!

Giving Thanks

As I anticipate eating one of my favorite meals of the whole year, I decided that it was a good time to catch up on blogging.

I really have had the most wonderful time shooting - even though I have been so busy and unable to dote on these sweet people.  I will tell you - that May will be a VERY joyous time for me.  It will be the first time in four years that I will have less than two (or three) jobs and a full semester of school.  Needless to say, as I let go of a few jobs and school I think I will gain a lot of sanity!

First I will start with Colby, a Wayland Senior…

And a sweet little family who just had their second baby, yesterday!!

And a precious senior from Plainview High,

That’s all for now!  Thanks for dropping in, and I will see you soon!

Blessings to you on this sweet day of giving thanks!

Busy Bee

I want to start this post of by saying that I am not happily assuming the role of busy bee.  I actually feel like it’s a halloween costume I put on when I turned 16 and never took it off.  Oh Well- it is just the way it is right now and I will learn to be happy with it!  I have so much to catch you up on!! But, for now I will have to leave you with a personal photo just to let you know that I am still alive and I just really love this picture :)

Here is Ryan and I after he shot his first wedding with me.  So fun!

Can’t wait to catch you up on all the amazing shoots I’ve had!  I’m off to an Engagement Session as we speak!

Lesley and Thomas

It is a strange feeling when your friends begin to get married.  It’s as if reality is slapping you in the face because you wouldn’t accept it before now.  But more than it being a strange slap in the face, it is a sweet story unfolding in front of your eyes.

I met Thomas when I worked at the Broadway Brew (although many of my high school friends referred to him as the cute theatre boy from Wayland many years before my actual knowing him) and I knew immediately that we would be great friends.  I don’t know that he says many things I don’t laugh at, and I also don’t know that there is anything that he loves more in this world than Lesley.  And it’s easy to see why.  She laughs at all of his jokes, adores him for all that he is and isn’t, and couldn’t have picked a better man if she tried. I made Lesley have coffee with me and sit through a few hours of awkward conversation because we didn’t know each other very well - but I wanted to change that and sure enough it did and she is now one of my dearest friends.

Their relationship is a special one - to say the least.  When I’m with them I can’t help but smile just by the way they interact and I love it.  And since I sound like a creep now I’m going to show you how cute they are and just prove how right I am :)

Oh how I love my theatre friends :)

To see more of Thomas and Lesley go here

Can’t wait to continue sharing all the wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting!

Rachel and John - Engagements

So maybe blogging is just something I will always suck at.  I”m through with making promises to you and am just going to be better.  Let’s just say that I am slowly realizing that not everything is worth saying yes to.  In a word - I am learning discernment in all facets of life.  Don’t give up on me!

Here is a really fun couple that I got to shoot a few weeks ago!  I have gone to school with Rachel since about 5th grade so it was really fun to help document this new chapter in her life!

Sharon and Aaron

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little jealous.  I mean don’t get me wrong, I love feeling nauseous because I ate so many brownies and rice krispies, cooking out with friends, and the smell of cream cheese stuffed jalapeno’s on the grill.  BUT when Aaron and Sharon showed up to the party with a new piece of jewelry, I might have been a little bit jealous.  Okay, a lot a bit jealous, but even more excited for these two.  I had so much fun taking these pictures, and can’t wait to share with you :)
